What is the LAUNCH Program? The LAUNCH Program is supplemental to your full-time role. You will automatically be enrolled in the LAUNCH Program during your first twenty-four months. Western Digital System Integration Test (SIT) Lab located in Rochester, MN is seeking an engineer with three or more years of experience for the position of System Integration Test Engineer. Western Digital’s SIT Lab performs storage, sub system, and device level testing on Western Digital’s entire enterprise product line. The SIT Lab is a highly interactive and dynamic environment where engineers work closely with Development, Customer Technical Support, Marketing, and Customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position is on a team that verifies the compatibility of Western Digital storage drives in enterprise customer system environments.
• System integration test engineers work closely with development engineering and customer technical support to ensure the quality of the product’s design and to verify that the product works flawlessly in the customer’s systems.
• System integration test engineers are responsible for configuring customer systems for test, then monitoring and analyzing drive logs, system logs, bus signals, etc. to determine test status.
• Problems are then isolated, analyzed, and documented as they occur.
• The engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining test scripts and automation.
• Responsibilities also include the creation of test schedules, writing reports, and communicating written and verbal status.

REQUIRED:

• Qualified candidates are new graduates who have earned a BS degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
• The candidate is someone who can manage impromptu test scheduling and reallocation of test resources on the fly.

SKILLS:

• The candidate shall have the ability to perform detailed failure analysis and independently investigate system hardware and software issues to determine root cause.
• Skills and/or prior experience should also include:
  • Application-level programming or scripting (Java, C++, C#, Python, etc.)
  • Familiarity with computer peripherals at the protocol level, such as UART, SPI, I2C, or SATA
  • Windows and UNIX / Linux server storage environments
  • Willingness to take on complex problems and investigate
  • Organization and the ability to plan ahead
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Comfortable with speaking about technical topics with customers and or internal entities

Compensation & Benefits Details

• An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
• The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado or remote jobs that can be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.
• You will also be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan and to receive equity awards under our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs), pursuant to the terms of these programs. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
