The IT Specialist is responsible for providing technical support in a school setting. This position is also responsible for desktop support and will work with both local and remote employees, to provide high-quality solutions to IT problems. The IT Support Specialist will provide maintenance to all computer equipment, solve technology problems as needed, and keep a service/inventory log. Key tasks include, but are not limited to:
1. troubleshooting
2. hardware issues
3. documentation
4. analysis, and resolution of escalated service desk tickets
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Answer, evaluate, and prioritize requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies.
2. Log and track requests by using the Help Desk software, maintaining history records, and related documentation.
3. Perform basic load-in, set-up, tear-down, and load-out of sound equipment.
4. Assist in making equipment performance adjustments at sound checks and participating in the production duties, as well as conducting maintenance and making signage updates.
5. Perform audiovisual assistance to performers, guests, and other departments personnel, as needed.
6. Install and configure software to communicate with peripherals, such as printers, modems, scanners, and screens for workstations.
7. Install or reinstall software programs and/or hardware.
8. Update existing security software on networks and workstations.
9. Install, implement, and manage technology and audiovisual resources.
10. Set up audiovisual equipment for staff or faculty.
11. Deliver and set up equipment in classrooms and/or meeting rooms as requested.
12. Perform troubleshooting of desktop software, access to databases, network, networked equipment, and email.
13. Assist users with the proper utilization of available hardware and software.
14. Keep and maintain inventories of all software licensing and of any loaned equipment.
15. Set up disk backups procedures, as required.
16. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall objective of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems supplemented by specialized computer courses and/or ample experience and knowledge in the field of technology
2. At least three years of related experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills and knowledge
3. Basic knowledge of laptop/desktop systems configuration and imaging
4. Skillful in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
5. Bilingual: English and Spanish
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
7. Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimum supervision
8. Must be able to speak, hear, see and use his/her hands.
9. Must be able to lift or move approximately 20 – 40 pounds without assistance.
10. Job requires employee to spend time standing, sitting, squatting, walking, and/or bending.
