Via Rail Engineering Inc. is a specialized railroad infrastructure design firm founded in 2005. Via Rail is recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join our team. Our design projects include clients in the chemical, aggregate, building materials and energy industries. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Ø Work with a multi-discipline team in the design and analysis of rail engineering projects as well as the contractors and construction staff on design/build projects.
Ø Provides leadership and guidance in multiple facets of projects including quality, engineering, procurement, construction, project controls and public/community relations.
Ø Preparation of plan, specification and estimates and manage rail development design projects.
Ø Develop new and manage existing client relationships while interfacing with the client for proposal and project-related items.
Ø Operate computer aided drafting software (Microstation/InRoads), to create aerial concept drawings, produce design plan sheet with notes and callouts.
Ø Perform plan updates and modifications.
Ø Self-check own work for completeness and accuracy using the accepted drawing standards as guidelines.
Ø Prepare some design elements; finish designs from sketches.
Ø Create manual drawings for engineering projects and assist in developing survey maps when necessary.
Ø Work from drawings, sketches or scanned images, customer drawings, or specifications.
Education and Training Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field required. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
