Join our effective and dynamic team, which supports translational research at UNM Health Sciences Center. The Community Engagement and Research Core (CERC) is seeking a detail-oriented, Community Research Specialist to join our team.
The CERC provides expertise in the full spectrum of the research process that supports an expansion of research within communities across New Mexico.
In general, the Research Specialist organizes and executes community research assignments for funded research studies. The candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of protocols, procedures, and techniques; independently coordinate day-to-day aspects of specific research assignments, and participates in the qualitative analysis, interpretation, and reporting of research findings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform a range of community-engaged and qualitative research activities including 1) community engagement and outreach; 2) study coordination and project implementation (e.g., study orientation, recruitment, data collection, dissemination); and 3) qualitative interviewing.
* Analyze complex qualitative data and summarize results for study presentations, scholarly manuscripts, and community dissemination efforts.
* Participate in study design and protocol development.
* Develop and maintain record-keeping systems and procedures.
* Draw and process blood.
* Performing miscellaneous job-related duties, as assigned.
* Some travel across the state, based on study needs.
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and will be able to adapt to changing priorities and provide support for a variety of research teams. This person must have experience conducting mixed-methods clinical or community-engaged research studies with diverse New Mexico communities.
TERM APPOINTMENT; FUNDING AVAILABLE THROUGH 05/31/2023; CONTINUANCE BEYOND THAT DATE IS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF ADDITIONAL FUNDING. The UNM Clinical Research Center (CTSC) has over 35 years of continuous funding as a well-established NIH FUNDED research center.
High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Must be detailed in your resume
* Experience in community-engaged research
* Experience in qualitative data collection, analysis, and dissemination
* Bilingual in English/Spanish
* Experience working with diverse New Mexico communities
* Experience interacting with members of a multi-disciplinary research team
* Drawing and processing blood
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, OneDrive and Teams
* Proficiency with video conferencing such as Zoom
