Description of Position
Provides administrative and end user support for Informatics systems and other VMC systems. Position is responsible for planning and independently completing various administrative IT program support within the Veterinary Medical Center. Seeks ways to improve efficiency through technology.
This position is also responsible for planning and establishing work goals, tasks, and resources required to complete administrative and IT programs in the VMC. It is expected that this position is able to exercise independent judgment and discretion in dealing with vendors, central UMN offices, such as OIT and Purchasing as well as faculty and staff.
Responsibilities
Works with a variety of reports, tools and technologies across areas of information technology within the VMC to administer, maintain, and optimize systems or applications software, hardware, databases, networks, end-user support and training. Evaluates and makes recommendations for improvement.
Provides technical support to faculty, staff, students, and University stakeholders for a range of hardware and software related information technology systems used by the VMC. Responds to problems, queries, or complaints from users. Helps diagnose user problems. Troubleshoots, rectifies faults and escalates problems when needed. May develops resources for responding to user queries including job aids and “how to’s” or guides.
Manages, coordinates and provides day-to-day oversight of VMC Communication system (Vocera)-
Point person for Vvendor contact
Resolve Llogin, access and connectivity issues
Oversight of vVocera inventory and reporting
Assess need and Oorders Vocera items as requested
Provides support for VMC hardware and connectivity, resolving problems
Addresses and resolves issues of cameras, network jacks, wireless hubs and connectivity
Assist with OIT requests:. Ee.g., Pphones, internet jacks, computers, printers, faxes
Order replacement computers, printers, faxes, scanners, and zebra printers
Manage computers and printers inventory; assess timing and project cost of computer and printer replacements
Vet View System Management (Electronic Medical Records) system support
Assists with Log in access for users
Provides security access for users
Trouble shoots and resolves or escalates user issues in a timely manner
Serves as point person for external reminders (setup and delivery)
VMC IT help desk for users
Point person for 1st level problem solving computer and printer issues.
Responsible for resolution or escalation of issues in a timely manner
VMC Informatics support
Researches, acquires, and analyze information for informatics manager
Create reports and documents for Informatics Manager and Director of Operations (Hospital Administrator)
Provides upkeep and maintenance of VMC website and VMC intranet site
webmaster functions include keeping sites current, posting content, collaborating with CVM web team on site management and maintenance as needed.
Duties and schedules may be changed based on the needs of the Veterinary Medical Center.
Salary Range:$20.38/hr to $24.86/hr

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED and five years related experience to include project management. Coursework in a related field (administrative or IT) may substitute for some years of experience. Skills and knowledge of IT systems, Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills required.
The Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) has served the community for more than a century. It is the most advanced, full-service referral care center for large and small animals in Minnesota. The VMC sees more than 35,000 cases annually, with specialists available in all areas of medicine and surgery. More than 50 of the veterinarians on staff have undergone several years of additional training to become board-certified specialists in a particular area of veterinary medicine. The Veterinary Medical Center is comprised of the Small Animal Hospital for dogs, cats, and other companion animals, the Piper Clinic at the new Leatherdale Equine Center, for horses, and the Large Animal Hospital, which treats farm animals, and occasionally, zoo animals.
