Position Overview
The Offsite Collection Facility (OCF) Manager oversees planning and implementation of projects related to the Libraries’ planned remote storage facility, and oversees operations of the facility once opened. The OCF Manager’s ongoing responsibilities include overseeing the deposit of collections, ensuring access to deposited items, planning for facility space use and collections growth, and liaising with depositing libraries. The OCF Manager will also coordinate services and staffing with Minitex in relation to the Minnesota Library Access Center (MLAC) collections.
Reporting to the Director of Collection Management and Preservation, the OCF Manager will oversee and coordinate the daily work of 3.0 FTE, including accessioning new materials to facility, fulfilling electronic and delivery requests of OCF materials, processing returns, and other services.
Salary: $59,865 plus DOQ
Dept Overview
This position is located within the Collection Management & Preservation Department, which provides strategic stewardship of the University of Minnesota Libraries content to ensure continuing access for future generations of users. The department employs cost-effective strategies for managing the life cycle of content and collections, including stabilizing physical materials to ensure usability, reformatting materials to ensure long-term access to their content, implementing preventative preservation practices throughout the Libraries, and promoting preservation and providing educational opportunities for Libraries staff and users.
Essential Functions
OCF Planning, Leadership, and Management: Provides leadership and accountability for all unit services and operations by planning, implementing, managing and evaluating activities of unit. (35%)
Directs the daily operations of OCF: Oversees the work of OCF staff, develops work assignments making any required adjustment for daily needs. (35%)
Unit Supervision: Manages and supervises staff in the OCF. (20%)
Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the OCF. (10%)
