DESCRIPTION
The Division of Medical Education within the UC San Diego School of Medicine (UCSD SOM) consists of four major units: Admissions & Student Affairs; Undergraduate Medical Education; Graduate Medical Education; and Continuing Medical Education & Faculty Development. These units are supported by core services units: Business Affairs, Educational Technology, and Evaluation & Assessment. The division supports the education, training and co-curricular activities of 540 medical students, 900 + residents and fellows, as well as the faculty, physician and healthcare providers at UCSD’s School of Medicine, its’ Medical Centers, and affiliates. The Division additionally houses the Physician Assistant Education Program as well as several large Health Sciences Graduate Programs and the Medical Student Training Program, as well as the Center for Investigations of Health and Education Disparities (CIHED).
Serve as a Curriculum Coordinator in UC San Diego School of Medicine (SOM). Provide programmatic support to core courses in the Integrated Scientific Curriculum in the School of Medicine, including preparation of course material, coordination of course committee meetings, and processing of course expenses.
In consultation with department management, use professional concepts in drafting department schedule for courses, seminars, and special events, taking into consideration faculty leaves, preferences, and faculty course load, classroom availability, and enrollment figures. Schedule may be reviewed to ensure it meets the needs of students for degree progression. Independently obtains classrooms for courses taking into account the requirements and restrictions of the Scheduling Office. Complete special projects for the course directors as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Six years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.
Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
Knowledge of department, organization, and University policies, procedures, and directives.
Knowledge of department and school / college general and major course requirements.
Interpersonal skills to work with department senior management, faculty, and students.
Ability in problem identification, reasoning, analysis to identify trends.
Ability to find solutions to conflicting situations.
Excellent communication skills to communicate clearly, effectively and tactfully to all levels of clients, academic, administrative and staff personnel within the university.
An in-depth knowledge of an organ-based pre-clinical curriculum within a School of Medicine, preferably at UCSD.
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously requiring experience with prioritizing tasks due to challenges such as shifting priorities, fluctuating workloads, and deadline pressures. Time management skills to include ability to monitor tasks and projects, making resourceful and creative decisions to ensure timely delivery.
Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions. Ability to work effectively, efficiently and apply attention to detail while working on multiple tasks at the same time. Ability to appropriately apply policies and procedures.
Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently and manage heavy workload to meet shifting deadlines and priorities.
Excellent record keeping skills, including ability to design and maintain extensive database information. Skill in developing, implementing, and maintaining efficient record keeping and filing systems for retrieval by self and others.
Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member with a department as well as outside our programs (VA, Children’s Hospital, and UCSD Hospital).
Demonstrated ability to manage financial aspects of a project or program.
Demonstrated ability to delegate work, determine appropriate levels of monitoring and define expected results.

Pay Transparency Act Full Salary Range: $37,900 – $85,300 Annually
