Umpqua Bank Looking for Director of Human Resources – Remote at Hillsboro, OR Full Time

Umpqua and Columbia Bank are combining to create the West Coast’s leading regional bank, and among the 30 largest banks in the country. This newly-created role offers the opportunity to shape the people/HR function as we combine and scale.

Your first main body of work in this role will be leadership of delivery and integration of the Workforce Planning, Talent Management & Development, Performance Management and Employee Relations functions. Along with the short-term needs related to integrating the business, your ability to evolve and transform how we deliver these functions will be critical to our long-term success. Accomplishing this will require your ability to build strong business relationships with business leaders, oversee a broad spectrum of HR disciplines, and implement programs that deliver better business results.

This remote office opportunity is available to you if you live and work in one of the communities we serve. To qualify for this role, you must reside in Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, or Idaho while you are an associate. Relocation assistance is not available.

Functions

• Implement HR programs at scale, considering the unique needs of our internal customers and in close partnership with the Human Resources Centers of Excellence (COE’s) and LOBs.
• Lead the HRBPs and ER team on strengthening the leadership of their client groups by providing coaching and counsel to senior leaders to further develop their leadership capability and capacity.
• Promote knowledge, understanding, and compliance of company policy and relevant employment laws through coaching, presentations, and training.
• Drive comprehensive and progressive Human Resources strategies through the organization and align employees with the organization’s culture, strategies, and vision.
• Align HRBP and ER teams as strategic business partners to understand business goals, issues and performance needs. proactively identify and resolve opportunities impacting co-op, team, and individual performance and ways of working.
• Contribute to business strategy by helping identify, prioritize and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures and processes
  Advise and collaborate with EVP, HR on strategic initiatives.
• Partner with HR Centers of Excellence (compensation, talent management, recruiting, etc.) to ensure that HR programs and processes are aligned with the business needs and are well executed.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of HR legal requirements, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with internal and external legal counsel as needed.
• Create compelling narratives and influence senior leaders by leveraging analytics and insights.
• Contribute to business strategy by helping identify, prioritize and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures and processes.
• Apply knowledge of technical HR employment practices, organization design and development practices, human performance technology (T&D) and recruiting practices.
• Build a strong pool of leaders and managers with the skills, capabilities and behaviors critical to enabling sustainable growth and market/consumer relevance
• Occasional Travel required

Qualifications

• Success in a strategic HR role that requires strong relationship building and influence skills with top executives.
• 10+ years HR Business Partner experience in roles of progressively increasing scope and in matrixed, high-growth organizations (employment law, workforce planning, organizational development, employee relations, diversity, compensation practices, benefit programs, performance management, etc.)
• 5+ years leading teams
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
