Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Powertrain Calibration & Evaluation Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to calibrate the powertrain to meet vehicle performance targets which achieve driveability needs for North American market.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Powertrain Calibration & Evaluation department’s objective to develop world class powertrains which exceed our customer’s expectations.
What you’ll be doing
Develop vehicle level calibration, applying past experience to challenge the status quo, which enhance Toyota’s products.
Utilize TBP (Toyota Business Practice) thinking and an analytical mindset to confirm technical data, develop appropriate countermeasures, and negotiate implementation.
Propose and implement new and better ways to improve power performance and vehicle driveability to exceed our customer’s needs.
Collaborate with a cross-functional group including part design engineers, performance development engineers, and manufacturing to achieve overall balanced vehicle requirements.
Conduct field issue investigation, suitability trips, and technical research projects.
Other duties as assigned.
What you bring
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Powertrain control & calibration work experience
Willingness and ability to travel, domestically and internationally as required (~10%)
Willingness to work overtime as required
Experience with analyzing and summarizing large data sets
Experience with complex system evaluation including sensor instrumentation, data acquisition, and data processing
Project Management experience (schedule, task, open issue management)
Acceptable driving record
What you may bring
Master’s degree in an Engineering Discipline
Experience leading test trips.
Genuine interest in automobiles (Involvement in SAE or other Associations) and basic knowledge of automotive design
Vehicle evaluation experience (testing while driving the vehicle)
