POSITION: Driver/Pantry Assistant

STATUS: Non-Exempt / Hourly

BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to keep the Stockton Corps offices and property clean and orderly. Daily food donation pickups. Maintain a good working relationship with public and private social services agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Pick up all food donations from stores and restaurants as requested and consistent with food safety handling standards.
• Coordinate and pick up food and bread donations regularly.
• Must be available to assist in any way with the moving, unloading, and storage of all donated food items from the truck runs or people’s generosity.
• Empty trash and garbage containers.
• Responsible for keeping the vehicles clean. This includes washing, vacuuming, checking and topping fluids as necessary.
• Notifies management concerning need for major vehicle repairs or additions to lights, heating, and ventilating equipment.
• Report any driving, safety hazards and the need for repairs to supervisor.
• Moves furniture, supplies and equipment as required
• Performs routine security tasks as necessary (e.g. Turns lights off, locks doors, etc.).
• Reports any vandalism or theft to supervisor immediately
• Must stock paper items such as toilet paper/hand towel in restrooms and kitchen areas.
• Prep the food for distribution to clients and help prep food boxes. distribute the food to the clients according to our schedule set by the CO and offices assistant.
• Perform/run errands in a timely manner as directed by Office Manager and Corp Officers Expected time away from the building will not exceed 30 minutes.
• Seasonal Duties: at Christmas, he/she will be expected to be involved with kettle stand assembly, food barrel placement and pickups around the community, and other duties as assigned by the Corp Officer(s).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be a least 21 years of age.
• Must have ability to work with people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
• Must Hold a current Driver License.
• Ability to participate in appropriate training in hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal; follow designated policy and procedures for Haz-mat identification, storage and disposal; maintain standards related to environmental compliance and personal health and safety as required.
• Ability to speak and write the English language.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Vehicles

• Assist Maintenance Supervisor with management and use of all vehicles by maintaining an organized “Check Out” System
• Maintain updated paperwork for each vehicle according to state requirements
• Assist maintenance supervisor in maintaining our fleet

Maintenance

Maintain building, performing light maintenance and minor repairs, and other related maintenance activities as requested by Corp Officers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to drive, sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects; ability to reach overhead.
• Ability to regularly lift up and/or move up to 25 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Must have good mobility with the ability to climb, crawl, bend and have good dexterity in regard to grasping, reaching, and handling.
• The ability to operate indoor cleaning machines (i.e., vacuum, buffer) and grounds keeping equipment (i.e., pressure washer & blower).
