We re seeking qualified candidates for a Quality Engineer position for our client located in Youngstown, OH.
Salary – $80K – $100K
Requirements:
• 3-5 years of quality assurance and control experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 5-7 years of related experience in a precision machining environment (preferred).
• Demonstrated experience in leading root-cause analysis, problem-solving, and corrective actions with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Experience with managing a gage program, including gage R & R, calibration, etc.
• 3 years of experience with FMEA and CAPA.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical (preferred) engineering, metallurgy, material science or a related field.
• Black/Green belt certifications preferred
• Formal training in lean manufacturing techniques and quality systems analysis
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical details to non-technical people.
• Ability to learn and maintain a strong working knowledge of internal manufacturing procedures and capabilities.
• High degree of personal computer skills, including products such as Minitab, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional team members to identify and solve problems, resolve conflicts, and optimize opportunities as well as perform as a strong individual contributor.
• Proficient project management skills. Requires analytical ability and experience to problem solve issues such as: technical problems, schedule issues, and cost related issues and influence others to execute to schedules.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements, including on-site, occasional travel, and/or alternate schedule hours to meet the needs of the business.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer works collaboratively with all functional areas to proactively implement, monitor, and maintain systems and processes to ensure design, manufacturing, and administrative processes support achievement of the company’s quality objectives. This position is also responsible for assessing product and process risk, performing root cause analysis, and implementing long term corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of quality issues.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs all responsibilities within the guidelines, policies, and best practices established by the company, while taking personal accountability for the accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness of all work performed. • Manages the gage program, including gage calibration for inspection to ensure timely, productive, and effective compliance with customer specifications.
• Leads and performs activities to reduce the cost of quality (warranty, scrap, and rework) using effective problem-solving methods to collect, analyze, and report data in order to prioritize (FMEA) activities that ensure resolution of repeat issues, using team problem solving where appropriate.
• Owns the corrective/preventive action (CAPA) program to ensure timely execution and implementation of sustainable solutions, utilizing internal and external resources as appropriate. Leads investigations to determine disposition, root cause and corrective actions, with a focus on both internal or external processes, and coordinates with subject-matter experts where appropriate; drives organizational improvement through utilization of statistical, data-driven methods and techniques.
• Actively participates in the internal audit program to identify quality improvement/failure prevention opportunities, and ensures corrective actions are implemented.
• Participates in, and may lead, continuous improvement initiatives to reduce material cost, enhance capacity, and improve flow through product value streams.
• Proactively communicates directly with internal departments through verbal and written presentation to assure resolution of delivery, quality, responsiveness, and reliability issues.
• Provides guidance and consultation to the internal teams in the proper selection, use and care of gages and other precision inspection equipment to assure purchased-part integrity.
• In coordination with the Quality Manager, supports the final inspection department which may include direct inspection, testing, documentation, and analysis to ensure quality and on-time delivery goals are achieved.
• Partners with supply chain to develop, implement, and monitor supplier quality management which may include approval of new suppliers and establishment of compliance metrics.
• Develops and executes statistical process controls for critical to quality (CTQ) characteristics.
Position Description
• Partners with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other internal teams to ensure timely disposition and communication with vendors and/or customers regarding any quality-related issues. • Travels occasionally (approximately 10%) to perform the essential functions of the position.
