The Panther GroupĀ is hiring a Sr Technical Engineer. The person in this role will join a high caliber team of engineers and analysts tasked with designing, implementing and providing ongoing management of technology based solutions in support of a US Retail business unit.
This position is a hybrid position, three days in office, two days remote. This is a contract to permanent position.Ā
The person successful in this role will have an extensive background in automating IT solutions for the purpose of zero touch implementations, solid scripting skills, experience with client management tools, application packaging, evaluating technology, understand management of systems in distributed environments, familiarity with data security standards in a regulated industry, be a jack of all trades, have an analytical mind to be able to solve complex issues and enjoys evaluating new technologies. Key Deliverables / Main Areas of Focus:
ā¢ Leads in the design and implementation of solutions to support operational and customer facing systems, i.e., retail point-of-sale, desktop PCs, server, kiosks and mobile devices
ā¢ Script automate build processes and application installations for the purposes of zero touch implementations.
ā¢ Advanced level experience creating operating system deployment task sequences, OS images and packaging applications for distribution via client management tools
ā¢ Analysis, design, testing and deployment of Active Directory Group Policy Objects
ā¢ Ability to research Windows platform based solutions that result in the hardening of systems for a more secure environment.
ā¢ Possess the technical competency to research chronic system or delivery problems, make fact-based decisions and can lead a small project that removes or reduces these risks / issues
ā¢ Experience with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodologies (PI Planning, Scrum, Kanban) and tools (JIRA) used to identify, prioritize, execute and measure work
ā¢ Leads the evaluation of new hardware, operating systems, and infrastructure components
ā¢ Provides 3rd level technical support for store retail technology including hardware and software
ā¢ Provides technical guidance to Ā retail business and IT organizations as required
ā¢ Recommend areas where existing policies and procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed
Skills
Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with scripting languages ā PowerShell, VBScript
ā¢ Experience packaging applications ā MSI, setup.exe, transforms (MST)
ā¢ Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
ā¢ Experience with Mobile Device Management platforms like VMWare Workspace One (AirWatch)
ā¢ Working knowledge of PCI and PII requirements or experience working in a highly regulated industry such as Retail, Medical, Finance etc.
ā¢ Experience with SDLC and/or Agile SAFe project methodologies
ā¢ Experience with C#, .NET, Visual Basic or any other object-oriented programming language
ā¢ Experience working with cross functional business and IT groups
Education
ā¢ Bachelor’s Degree or 10-12 years of equivalent work experience.
