Seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Upper Elementary/Junior High teacher for a growing Montessori school.
Applicant would be responsible for history/science instruction (depending on background and experience) to a mixed group of 4th through 6th grade students as well as a group of 7th and 8th graders.
Montessori training (paid for by the school) would be mandatory after the first year of service. This would include approximately 8 weeks of classes in Houston during the first summer and additional weeks of training during the second summer.
Must be confident and comfortable teaching all scientific concepts including evolution and climate change.
Applicant must have a desire to work in a progressive school with an emphasis on community and relationship building.
With continued growth of the school this teacher would eventually become the lead Upper Elementary teacher, responsible for all core subjects (Math, Science, English, History). Applicants must have a desire to work long term as an elementary teacher and be competent in all subject areas.
Hours would be 7:30-4:00 Monday through Friday.
Upper Elementary Montessori certification is preferred.
Staff must be flexible and have a desire to work as part of a close-knit teaching team. All teachers are expected to fill in at any program level during staff absences. While there are high expectations for all staff members, the work environment is very relaxed and supportive.
Applicant must have a bachelors degree in education, science, history, or another related field.
A few weekend school events throughout the year are required.
