Position Overview
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. The Assistant Controller will execute a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings, accounts payable, non-trade receivables, sales tax filings, bank reconciliations and general ledger reviews. Additionally, this person will be responsible for establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and controls. The Assistant Controller will provide back-up support to other members of the Accounting team as needed.
As the Assistant Controller, you will lead and mentor several direct reports and help foster a culture of excellence / continuous improvement mindset. You will work in tandem with other accounting leaders to ensure maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls, designed to mitigate risk, uphold the accuracy of the company’s reporting, and ensure that reported results comply with GAAP. You will interface with the company’s auditors and work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely audit report. Compressing the monthly close cycle and leveraging Netsuite for additional automation and reporting capabilities will be a key objective to enhance the scalability of the accounting function. You will work with the team to execute the highest priority, efficiency-enhancing system improvement initiatives with the ultimate goal of supporting additional business complexity and 3-5x our current order volume.
