Performs for the benefit of the Credit Union and its members, an independent internal review and appraisal of accounting, financial, and operational activities of the Credit Union. These activities are performed at the direction of the Vice President of Internal Audit and Supervisory Committee, and in coordination with reviews performed by external auditors and state and federal examiners. This position is focused on audits of the Information Technology (IT), Information Security (IS), and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) areas.
Responsibilities:
Plans and executes risk-based audit activities to review, monitor, and evaluate the managerial and internal controls established over Information Technology, Information Security, and Electronic Funds Transfer activities to ensure compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations.
Documents appropriately the results of all audits, reviews, and evaluations performed.
May recommend improvements in controls, practices, and procedures in order to increase efficiency and reduce exposure to loss.
Assists with annual Internal Audit Risk Assessment and Plan for the IT, IS, and EFT business units.
May participate in investigations of possible improprieties on the part of Credit Union employees.
May act as liaison between Credit Union’s external auditors, state and federal examiners and Credit Union staff. Assists in coordinating preparations for audits and examinations.
Maintains knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting area of expertise. Attends educational events that will increase professional knowledge and be otherwise beneficial to the Credit Union.
Completes annual BSA/AML Compliance Training and understands employee’s role in maintaining an effective BSA/AML compliance program, and completes FACT Act Red Flag training.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements.)
Three or more years previous experience in audit, information technology, or information security field.
Financial institution experience preferred.
Professional certifications such as CISA, CIA, CRISC or CISSP preferred.
Able to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities, and meet deadlines. Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized. Able to analyze and resolve difficult and sometimes complex problems and situations.
Strong knowledge and understanding of Credit Union products, services, policies, and procedures pertinent to the job.
Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities.
Strong knowledge and understanding of all Credit Union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to interact professionally and effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators. Able to influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
Works independently with limited supervision.
