Description

Accountant I – Hybrid (Cincinnati)

The Accountant position is responsible for supporting the Accounting Manager for Global Shared Services. This includes understanding and performing all needed month end close processes such as account reconciliations and journal entries globally. This position is also responsible for supporting and performing necessary analysis and processes for all audit requests, both financial and JSox related. Candidate must have good knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP.

• Monitor, review, and reconcile accounts on a monthly basis.
• Review journal entries submitted by the business to ensure compliance with accounting policy (accuracy and appropriate approvals) then post entries in SAP or escalate to management any issues or non-compliance.
• Prepare and post journal entries for other month end closing processes.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identify non-reconciled items, and give recommendations for resolution.
• Upload completed account reconciliations into SMART.
• Identify, research, and clear older reconciling items in accordance with Sun Chemical account verification practices/policies.
• Prepare global reconciliation of subledgers and advise of any discrepancies.
• Prepare and post DR/CR memos relating to customer contracts.
• Work with J-Sox and Financial audit teams to supply appropriate documentation for audit selections (monthly and annual audits).
• Responsible for Fixed Asset accounting as directed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of processes.
• Manage daily activities and meet published deadlines for activities with minimal supervision.
• Adaptable to new processes, concepts, and skills.
• Performs responsibilities in full compliance with Sun Chemical standards, policies, and procedures.
• Build strong vendor relationships and collaborative relationships with internal personnel, i.e., controllers, corporate, departmental.

** Occasional OT and weekend work may be required during peak periods.

Position Requirements

• BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 2+ years working in Accounting/Finance. (Experience working in Fixed Assets preferred)
• Proficiency with all Microsoft Office productivity tools.
• Exposure working with implementation and/or working with ERP General Accounting. (SAP FI/CO preferred)
• Exposure working in a shared services/service delivery role desired.
