Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced payroll accountant to join our growing global team!
CM Group has employees in 15 countries and we are constantly working to streamline our payroll processes. We need a payroll accountant who can first and foremost record all employee compensation and benefits related journal entries and maintain supporting reconciliations. This role has great growth potential to learn additional HR processes including, but not limited to, US and global payroll processing, HRIS systems and operational work, benefit administration, and time tracking management.
Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions, including salaries, commissions, benefits, taxes and other deductions
Calculate and account for payroll related accruals
Reconcile payroll related balance sheet accounts, including but not limited to benefit reconciliations, and solve for discrepancies
Set up and maintain payroll codes for earnings and deductions
Set up and maintain payroll tax accounts within the payroll system and external tax agencies
Respond to and track tax agency notices
Maintain system mapping from the payroll system to the financial system
Work closely with the payroll team to ensure compliance with federal, state/provincial and local payroll requirements and prepare tax forms as required
Analyze, track and record intercompany employee related recharges
Maintain integrations with our benefit providers
Coordinate payroll accounting procedures and activity across the enterprise to ensure standardization and consistency
Facilitate the annual financial audit by providing adequate reports and support for payroll journal entries and account balances
Assist the payroll and benefits team in responding to employee inquiries via our ticketing system
Work with multiple companies and a global workforce
Record and analyze applicable balance sheet and income statements transactions
Work within month end timelines as well as various payroll deadlines
Assist the team with year end tasks such as 401k and worker’s compensation audits
Run and prepare payroll related reports
Work with payroll, benefits, HRIS, finance, accounting teams
Skills needed
Accounting experience
Payroll & benefit experience
Strong Excel skills with the ability to download reports, manipulate data, create formulas, and prepare for presentations
Attention to detail is a must
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Self motivated and organized
Team player (on a fabulous team!)
Systems – Workday/Netsuite preferred, not required
