Seakeeper Inc Looking for Junior Payroll Accountant at California, MD Full Time

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Our employees are the most important piece of the Seakeeper puzzle. As our Junior Payroll Accountant, you’ll have the opportunity to touch every single one of them and make a positive impact! You’ll be the keeper of payroll, ensuring employee payroll and benefit records are accurately maintained and that employees’ paychecks are correct and delivered on time. Although you’ll process payroll, this isn’t a traditional position. We are looking for someone to elevate the accounting and analysis of our payroll data. You’ll make an impact on our internal operations by:

• Ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for all Seakeeper employees
• Driving continuous improvement of payroll processes with a push towards automation including system change and enhancements
• Maintaining biweekly payroll and benefits data including, but not limited to:
  • NetSuite and NETime adjustments
  • Newly hired and terminated employee adjustments
  • General ledger accounts reconciliation
  • Assisting with annual merit increases and changes
• Accruing appropriate payroll expenses monthly, ensuring all costs have been recorded in the correct period
• Processing employee status changes
• Managing accurate Paid Time Off reporting and changes
• Assisting with schedules for 401K audit and tax returns
• Being the backup to other areas of the business and collaborating on special projects with our Payroll Analyst

MUST-HAVES

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
• 1-3 years of accounting experience
• Previous experience and involvement with the payroll process
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Demonstrate good judgment and be of unquestionable integrity
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
• Ferocious attention to detail
• Maintain a positive, professional, and customer-centric attitude at all times
• Be professional, responsive, resourceful, and flexible
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Superior time management, multitasking, organizational, and prioritization skills

NICE-TO-HAVES

• Experience utilizing NetSuite and/or NETime systems
• Experience or familiarity with DocuSign

• You’ll report to the Benefits & Compliance Manager, also based remotely in Maryland
