OPPORTUNITY: ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR (The FUND Group) – SARES REGIS CORPORATE OFFICE/NEWPORT BEACH, CA
Job Summary:
The Fund Accounting Supervisor is part of the Fund Accounting team and will provide fund accounting and reporting services to internal and external clients. Following department procedures, this position is responsible to ensure standards of quality and control are met.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Prepares quarterly financial statements and footnote disclosures for investment funds and joint ventures, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Accounts for all aspects of accounting for investment funds and joint ventures, from recording of initial investment through disposition and wind-up. Includes ongoing reconciliations of various accounts, which involves comprehension of complex business agreements.
• Sets up and maintains various investment fund and joint venture preferred return schedules to reflect proper waterfall and returns for multiple investors, including preparation of quarterly distribution calculations and wires.
• Prepares annual tax return packages for external tax prepares as well as quarterly REIT income and asset analyses for tax compliance.
• Participates in annual investment fund audits, including management of document requests from various departments.
• Performs weekly cash reconciliations of fund-level bank accounts, including preparation of book transfers and wires.
• Records monthly operating distributions from properties and performs variance analysis to explain deviations from budget.
• Updates fund-level cashflow forecast and performance analysis, and property-level discounted cashflow models, including IRR calculations.
• Reviews checks and underlying support as well as bank reconciliations prepared by Project Accountants.
Education and Experience:
• 3 – 5 years of related experience in public accounting and/or real estate industry and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year university or college, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Qualifications:
• CPA designation preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of preparation of financial statements, including financial statement analysis.
• Significant experience accounting for multiple legal entities, including consolidation accounting.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including experience in applying various formulas.
• Experience with JD Edwards, Yardi, MicroStrategy Developer, or other equivalent accounting and report-writing software preferred.
• Public accounting experience, with emphasis on auditing of real estate industry a plus.
