POSITION SUMMARY

The Employee Benefits Specialist coordinates the administration of employee benefit programs and provides operational and program support in the Employee Relations Department as needed including performance management, HRIS administration, etc.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages and administers various employee benefit plans and programs including health, COBRA, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, disability insurance, worker’s compensation insurance, FMLA, retirement plans (401K), and related programs
• Oversees regular and annual benefits administration, including changes, billing, and annual open enrollment
• Ensures compliance with FMLA, ADA, HIPAA and other federal, state and local laws
• Maintains benefits records and prepares correspondence and notification documents necessary for implementing or changing benefit coverage and in compliance with required governmental reports.
• Communicates benefit information to employees and advises them on eligibility, provision, and other matters related to benefits. Prepares and distributes annual benefit booklets
• Conducts exit interviews and administers the transition of benefits for separating employees
• Assists with performance management related tasks including bi-annual appraisals and employee development plans
• Provides operational and program support in the department as needed. Conducts research, analyses data and prepares recommendations on assigned projects
• Maintains the Human Resource database for personnel files including benefits, status changes, position and location changes
• Coordinates community and staff involvement activities, as needed
• Performs special assignments and other work-related duties as assigned
• As a member of the Employee Relations department, confidentiality is imperative and will be strictly enforced. 
• Provides service that aligns with the Credit Union’s mission of passionately delivering relevant products, services, and education tailored to help our members, employees, and communities achieve their financial goals.
