JOB TITLE: Manager, Social Media

REPORTS TO: Director, Content & Creative

COMPENSATION: $60,000-$65,000 Annually

STATUS: Full-time, exempt

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

SF Ballets mission is to spread the joy of dance to the widest possible audience both locally and around the world, and to provide the highest caliber of dance training in our School. Were looking for a key member to join our growing Marketing team and lead the development of social media content that will engage current and future audiences!

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Planning

• Work with the Director, Content & Creative to develop and maintain a channel content strategy aligned to the brand strategy
• Stay up-to-date on emerging platforms, technologies and industry best practices

Content Creation and Channel Management

• Develop compelling content to engage, cultivate, and nurture SF Ballets social communities; this includes writing, copy editing, designing graphics, and optimizing video for different platforms
• Manage social media requests to support internal and external social needs
• Work closely with Manager, Advertising and Promotions to coordinate paid social efforts
• Schedule and post content across owned channels
• Ensure social plans and assets are available in a centralized, accessible location for use by internal teams
• Ensure all content adheres to brand and IDEA guidelines and union contracts
• Review and report out on Social Media analytics. Use data analysis to make informed decisions regarding campaign planning, messaging, targeting influencers, etc.
• Coordinate with staff and outside vendors on contests and online promotional events and cross-promotional opportunities

Community Management

• Monitor and respond to comments from organic and paid social content across platforms, flagging sensitive content to appropriate parties
• Engage in social listening to monitor and analyze trending topics and relevant social conversations to gain audience insights and competitive intelligence

QUALIFICATIONS

• BA, BS in Marketing, Communications, PR or related field
• 1-3 years proven experience managing social media and creating social content on behalf of a brand
• Strong familiarity with platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn and Twitter
• A healthy obsession with social media, pop culture, and current events
• Familiarity with social listening and monitoring tools (e.g., Sprout, Hootsuite, Social Studio, etc.) and design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in all deliverables
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate clearly and passionately, both in writing and verbally
• Positive attitude and solution-oriented approach to work
• Strong knowledge of dance and performing arts preferred, especially ballet
• Knowledge of various content and financial systems/tools (e.g., Adobe, Microsoft 365, Asana for project management, CMS/DAMs)

SF Ballet performed the first American productions of Swan Lake and Nutcracker, as well as the first production of Coppelia, choreographed by an American choreographer. Guided in its early years by American dance pioneers and brothers Lew, Willam, and Harold Christensen, San Francisco Ballet currently presents more than 100 performances a year locally, nationally, and abroad.
