Family Court of St. Louis County is hiring for a Deputy Juvenile Officer I- Work Crew Coordinator in the Delinquency Department.
Entry salary is $45,760.00. This rate includes 10% addition to pay.
Full time: Monday – Friday including some evenings and weekends.
This is a non-merit position. Recruitment for this position will be handled by the Family Court of St. Louis County. Position is eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness

An employee in this job class and position is responsible for performing work of moderate difficulty requiring independent judgment. Work is performed under the direction of the Community Programs and Educational Resources Manager. This position involves responsibility for supervising youth assigned to a work crew for the purpose of completing community service or restitution obligations. Work is reviewed by periodic supervisory conferences, reports submitted, direct observation of group interaction, and achievement of stated goals.
Supervises youth assigned to a work crew for the purpose of completing their community service/restitution obligations for various public and not-for-profit agencies, transports members of work crew to and from worksites.
Creates and maintains case files on each youth participant; conducts individual pre-placement orientation sessions/interviews with youth and their parents/custodians, which includes ensuring that parents/custodians and youth understand and complete work crew forms.
Conducts pre-employment skills training sessions for youth.
Evaluates the progress of youth and reports their progress to their Deputy Juvenile Officer.
Develop partnerships and continuously recruits worksites and maintains productive relationships with site directors.
Coordinates with worksite directors to schedule work projects.
Completes and files community service/restitution forms with the Family Court clerks/business office and to ensure payment is issued to victims for restitution.
Responds to requests from Deputy Juvenile Officers who provide community service to youth who are in the Intensive Intervention Services Program.
Serves as appropriate role model and mentor youth in the program.
Provides informal individual counseling to youth on an as needed basis.
Participates in supervisory and unit conferences, exchanges ideas and evaluates strategies on specific cases.
Attends and completes a minimum of 24 hours of approved training per merit year in order to enhance professional development; remains abreast of current trends and issues in juvenile justice.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related social/behavioral science (a Master’s degree is preferred). Plus at least one year of professional experience working with youth and families or any equivalent combination of training and experience. This job requires skill working with a diverse population of people. Good writing, oral communication, and time management skills are also essential.
