The Accounting Clerk III will support financial services required by the Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration. The Accounting Clerk III will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide fiscal support to include maintaining automated files of financial documents and transactions, a multiplicity of tables in DEA’s financial management systems and recording a variety of transactions from valid sources documents and verification of entries, e.g. fund control files, spreadsheets, databases
Review invoices and statements (verifying information, ensuring sufficient funds have been obligated, and if questionable, resolving with the submitting unit, determining accounts involved, coding transactions, and processing material through data processing for application in the accounting system
Analyze and reconcile computer printouts with operating unit reports (contacts units and researchdiscrepancies and takes action to ensure that accounts balance).
Resolve problems in recurring assignments in accordance with previous training and experience.
Provide suggestions for handling unusual or nonrecurring transactions.
REQUIREMENTS:
2 to 3 years relevant experience
HS Degree or equivalent
College-level coursework may be used to substitute for experience
Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
2 to 3 years of general office experience
Knowledge of standardized accounting procedures used in an accounting system
2-3 years’ experience with creating/editing electronic spreadsheets using MS Office
