Job Description

Prepare graphic files for print across all packaging print platforms while maintaining the integrity of the content art, design and brand. Responsible for image processing, including page makeup, file formatting, trapping, color corrections and related operations. Create image proofs and make file revisions as needed. May create impositions to process jobs for press.

Excellent understanding of design and typography and the process of creating a publication through all its phases from concept through printing. Very good experience in Macintosh desktop publishing (including such software such as InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator) is required. Experience with Art Pro is a plus. Demonstrated talent as a designer, including an understanding of the need to balance function and visual appearance to achieve successful communication. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Requires knowledge of complex, multi-faceted design techniques. Excellent knowledge of printing techniques and knowledge of production issues. Able to understand and compile cost estimates for creative projects. Excellent skill in operation of cutting edge technology to provide client with effective creative products and image files. Able to understand client requirement and solve highly technical design problems and meet expectations while remaining in budget for creative assignments.

Expected hourly salary will be between $23.50 to $32.00 based on job knowledge, skills, abilities and experience.

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is a MUST. Esko DeskPack experience helpful.

Other Adobe applications knowledge also helpful, with an emphasis on PhotoShop and Art Pro

Mac system and network experience is a must

Microsoft Excel experience is needed for variable data.

Trapping, step & repeat, color correction, color conversion relating to Flexo and Digital printing on multiple substrates.

Creativity and problem solving skills / Works well under pressure / Good time management skills / Self starter that can preform well with little oversight or support in the position.

Good communication skills for interaction with sales, customer, press operators and order entry.

Good organization skills to work in a high volume, fast turn production environment.

2 or more years working in a flexographic printing environment preferred

2- 5 years experience working in print preferred

Familiarity with:

– Flexographic, label, roll-to-roll, and 4-color process & Multi-Color Printing.

– Trapping, separating, step & repeat, proofing & proofreading

– Typesetting, imposition, and design & layout
