Seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to support Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific and their customer United States Space Force (USSF) network/data center projects and activities. Specifically, provide network engineering design expertise to include, but are not limited to network design and implementation, data center system design and implementation, project planning, development of technical documentation, deployment of automated discovery, mapping, and migration toolsets, server performance optimization and rightsizing, network and server monitoring, planning and implementation, backup and encryption solution deployment, and validation of operational systems.
Network Engineer will assist with the identification of technical requirements, solution recommendations, and implementation of new capabilities to ensure the ongoing successful operation and management of the data center environment. She/He shall ensure the successful operation of NIPR and SIPR systems in the USSF data center ecosystem and DoD enclave.
Required Experience:
Experience maintaining computer DoD NIPR/SIPR networks including JWICS and SAP networks, VPNs, switches, routers, transport layer appliances such as IPS/IDS, Firewalls, and other physical hardware.
Installing and configuring network equipment. Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance for all systems. Troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating networking issues to customer and leadership. Implementing disaster recovery procedures for network operations.
Experience maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to DoD systems. Creating firewalls and updating virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected. Comprehensive understanding of network services and networks such as TCP/IP, OSPF and EIGRP In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of networking systems such as LAN, firewalls, routers and printers.
Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently. Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot networks and security infrastructure. Time management experience. Ability to manage projects simultaneously from design to implementation. Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to customer leadership and other mission partners who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology.
Education: B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 8+ years of network engineering experience preferred.
Clearance: DoD Secret / Top Secret SCI preferred
Certifications Desired: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) / Routing and Switching
