KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparation and analysis of quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial statements of assigned reinsurance companies of significant complexity including ceding of various other writers, cash transactions, accruals, reconciliations and investments of significant complexity.
Tax return preparation and analysis of assigned reinsurance companies including completion of additional tax schedules, IRS correspondence and all necessary tax elections, payments, and analysis. Including but not limited to 953d elections, 831b elections, tax extensions, Form 8886, Form BE-10 and all necessary tax analysis for beneficial tax elections.
Preparation of all domicile related filings for licensing requirements.
Work closely with the Distribution team to analyze company performance, provide company information, and answer company questions related to assigned companies in which we complete the books, taxes and records.
Assist in gathering tax documentation and materials necessary for the completion of the tax returns and financial statements.
Act as the point of contact between Protective Asset Protection, sales and shareholders.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. Accounting degree and/or Finance or equivalent
4 years general accounting experience in an automated environment or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary accounting skills knowledge and abilities.
3-4 years of insurance/reinsurance accounting experience with general ledger and accounting functions of an insurance organization preferred.
Excellent computer software skills and especially knowledgeable with spreadsheets (Excel)
Must demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork and possess a strong working knowledge of computer systems.
Knowledge of general accounting principles
Strong skills in the following areas: analytical, problem solving, written and oral communication, organization, and time management.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Performance-Based Compensation: This position is eligible for an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance.
Note: Pursuant to Colorado law, Protective is providing the applicable salary range for Colorado residents. Salary Range Specific to Colorado: $59,000 – $88,000
