Job Description

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist III, under general supervision, will serve as a key human resources contact by serving departments to address their classification, compensation and staffing needs. Collaborates with all hiring departments to assist with programs, services, and solutions specifically for classification and compensation, immigration services and special projects.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively interacts with faculty and staff administrators on proposed new position requests, reclassifications and position updates for faculty, staff and graduate assistant positions. Studies position requests in the HRIS System and conducts thorough job analyses on new positions, including reclassifications for faculty and staff to make title and salary recommendations within the established Pay Plan. Reviews accuracy of position updates by revising job responsibilities, and salary details as appropriate and offers additional guidance to the department as needed. Reviews proposed salary offers for all staff hires and reclassifications and make salary recommendations to ensure internal salary equity within the department and across the organization.
• Interprets Fair Labor Standards Act criteria in the analyses of positions. Compiles and analyzes statistical information using spreadsheets and software, designs and implements data collection and reports for position data, salary projections, pay planning and other special projects. Completes annual market studies on faculty and staff and other salary studies for benchmarked positions annually on an as-needed basis, using various market survey tools. Participates in the completion of annual salary surveys for CUPA, IPEDS, and others as needed –
• Assists with the development of skills and competency-based career ladders for job families with the established pay plan for career progression and development. Writes new job descriptions for approval and incorporation into the Pay Plan.
• Writes and maintains standard operating procedures and compensation guidelines, web content, instructional, tutorials and other communication pieces on compensation practices. Conducts training and presentations on various aspects of compensation.
• Acts as an employer liaison to process immigration requests for employment work visas such as, but not limited, J-1 visas, H1-B visas and permanent resident (green card) in accordance with TAMUS regulation. Coordinates with the immigration services vendors to ensure all visas are processed timely as requested by the employing department or prior to the expiration of current work authorizations. Serves as the Program Administrator for the I-9 process. Monitors both certifications and re-verifications for Form I-9 regulations compliance and changes in work authorizations. Provides updates and reports on I-9 violations to the HR Management Team. –
• Partners with other HR functional areas as needed to complete special projects. Complies and reviews raw data for the development of key HR metrics.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Two years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Knowledge of HR principles. Knowledge of FMLA, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with a wide range of personalities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources Management.
• Five or more years of human resources related experience preferably in classification and compensation.
• PHR or SHRM – CP.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated work experience with applying knowledge on applicable employment laws and practices to provide consultation to clients on best practices and solutions.
• Prior experience using Workday or similar HRIS.
