Assists in the preparation of financial statements and footnote disclosures on Forms 10-K and 10-Q to comply with the regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Performs other external reporting related activities as needed, including the completion of various surveys.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepares and analyzes financial statements and other disclosures including supporting work papers for external financial reports filed with the SEC.
2. Performs XBRL tagging for financial reports filed with the SEC.
3. Coordinates requests for information required from various organizations in the company (Business Lines, Treasury, Legal, etc.) in support of financial report disclosures.
4. Prepares various other financial reports required to be filed with governmental agencies.
5. Solves a range of moderately complex accounting and reporting issues; analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard procedures.
6. Builds knowledge of the organization processes and customers and technical accounting.
7. Assists in the tracking & reporting of internal controls over financial reporting, and recommends enhancements to such controls.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in business discipline with at least three accounting courses and a minimum of 2 to 4 years accounting-related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 1 year of accounting-related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
2. CPA or CMA certification.
3. Knowledge of SEC reporting requirements, as provided in Regulations S-X and S-K.
4. Knowledge of XBRL reporting requirements.
5. Experience in public utility accounting, SEC reporting and a working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
6. Requires effective written and oral communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and databases.
