DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for designing, building, testing, implementing, maintaining and optimizing the virtual infrastructure in accordance with security policies and guidelines. Virtual Engineers typically spans: DELL, ESXi, vRealize, LogInsight Manager, client technology and storage systems. Additional functions and processes include service and product management, performance and capacity management, patching and version management, hardware support and Level 3 operations support.
• Daily administration of VMware infrastructure (vSphere 6.5+) including performance tuning and optimization of guests in a virtual environment.
• Work with Application developers and seasoned application administrators to establish virtual machine memory, CPU, and storage requirements that adhere to basic principles of topology, such as NUMA boundaries
• Development of ESXi host profiles to maintain uniformity across clusters in the environment.
• Establishment of performance analytics to determine the best methods for optimizing the environment.
• Building server ‘Gold’ images to conform to hardening, security compliance, and virtualization best practices.
• Perform enterprise level system upgrades of hypervisors, operating systems, applications, and other tools, including evaluation and installation of new products, and MS and other application patches.
• Develop mid-level engineers to perform more advanced system administration and best practices.
• Manage Service Level Agreements, documentation, and policy/procedure compliance for IT systems related to virtualized, and commercial cloud environments.
• Create and manage scripts to perform system tasks with PowerShell experience a plus. – Participate in after-hours requests that respond to business emergencies (on-call rotation)
• Provide recommendations to senior management for areas of opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership of the virtualized environments.
• Resolve escalated issues from the IT Service Desk and Tier III administrators
• Proactively monitor virtualization infrastructure to anticipate and mitigate problems.
• Work with hardware vendors to fix and/or repair defective support hardware.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE
• Bachelor’s degree or technical institute degree/certificate in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
• Typically requires 10+ years of relevant technology work experience.
• Requires 10+ years of VMware ESXi, vSphere, SRM, vRealize Operations, LogInsight Manager, x86 Compute, Microsoft Windows Server, Windows Clustering, Active Directory, Linux Operating Systems.
• Relevant certification is required.
• Demonstrates knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products.

• Good analytical skills with attention to detail – Good presentation skills.
• Ability to prioritize work load.
• Understanding of ITSM.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Skills / Experience: – VMware vRealize Automation and LogInsight Manager.
• NetApp Storage, NFS/iSCSI technologies, SRM.
• Experience with general IT concepts beyond their primary discipline.
