ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the VP, Strategy & Consulting (International Developed Markets & Emerging Markets), this role is responsible for working with the leaders of the International Developed Markets (IDM) Business Unit and Emerging Markets (EM) Business Unit (BU) within our Biopharma commercial organization to shape, develop, and enable execution of strategies that will advance and grow the business. The IDM business spans all our TAs and products in key developed markets outside the US, including (but not limited to) the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Japan, Canada, Australia, etc. The EM business spans all our TAs and products in key emerging markets across the globe, including (but not limited to) Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, as well as additional markets in Africa, Middle East, Asia, Latin America, etc. Together, these two BUs are responsible for Pfizer’s P&L in all markets outside of the US and China.
The scope of the role will include all areas under the purview of the group, including development and commercial. While this position reports into the Strategy & Consulting team organizationally, this person will partner closely with leadership teams to stay connected to key business challenges and opportunities, ensure that there is alignment with strategic priorities, and adjust priorities when necessary. The scope of the role will include contributions to BU strategic planning, management of projects related to key strategic issues, including managing a team of strategy colleagues who will support these projects, and insight and assessment of market signals that could impact business performance or strategic direction.
The Senior Director will also manage 3-4 direct reports within the IDM and EM team.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with BU leaders and/or corporate functions to develop business strategies at a global, and where appropriate, a local level. Identify key strategic imperatives and capabilities required to achieve these imperatives.
Contribute to the completion of an annual strategic plan, as well as a strategy action plan that manages the execution of the strategies.
Lead or direct a portfolio of projects that provide insight and direction for key strategic levers such as market development, customer needs assessment, competitive advantage, market and/or product prioritization, and provide day-to-day oversight to project teams of colleagues with varying levels of experience.
Develop a deep expertise in market dynamics to identify market trends and appropriately assess opportunities and guide strategic direction.
Develop external relationships that provide perspective of the diverse eco-system outside of Pfizer as it relates to the areas of the business you support.
Actively participate in the Strategy & Consulting team, supporting Pfizer strategy through the perspective and experience of the organizations you support, and collaborate to identify opportunities across commercial categories for alignment or best-practice sharing.
Create an engaging and productive work environment where team members are encouraged to collaborate and excel.
Lead and manage 3-4 direct reports, coaching and developing them to build capabilities and deliver exceptional performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 12+ years of relevant healthcare experience required, including experience working in or with commercial functions involving strategy development and/or strategic initiatives (e.g., marketing, commercial development, market access & pricing, etc.
5+ years of biopharmaceutical consulting experience strongly preferred.
Experience related to commercial development, market access & pricing, and/or commercialization and lifecycle management in one or more markets in IDM and EM preferred.
Understands trends and market dynamics in global healthcare and biopharmaceuticals, aware of competitor strategies, and understands key aspects of health care system variations in key regions/markets with respect to payers and patient access.
Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organization without direct authority (Global BU President, global therapeutic area leaders, and functional counterparts). Must be ableto influence executive commercial and research & development leaders.
Demonstrated strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to tee up the right questions, identify alternative scenarios, articulate resulting implications, and develop recommendations for decision-making or action.
Ability to understand and translate market and competitive dynamics into strategic implications for the BU.
Demonstrated project leadership, managing complex workstreams and large teams of cross-functional colleagues with varying backgrounds and skillsets.
Demonstrated ability and experience in overseeing the day-to-day work of junior resources, including providing coaching, mentorship, and development.
Basic understanding of finance and P&L implications of any strategy.
Ability to work with complex information and distill into a framework that helps facilitate decision making.
Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead with indirect authority.
Excellent presentation skills sufficient to address Global BU Leadership, ELT, and external audiences.
Strong command of English language, spoken and written.
BA/BS – required, life sciences degree helpful. Advanced degree in a related field is preferred.

For roles based in New York City: The annual base salary for this position ranges from $185,800 to $309,600. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $185,800.00 to $297,700.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
