GENERAL SUMMARY:

The CAD Analyst will interact with Land Surveying, ROW Engineering, and ROW Acquisition staff for ongoing, highly visible real property and transportation projects in Southern California. The successful candidate will have the ability to visualize planned infrastructure from a constructability perspective to help define an evolving program made to set trends in the Right of Way services field. Professionals with experience in Land Development, Flood Control, Civil Engineering or Right of Way and other adjacent professional services are encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Proficiency in one or more CAD platforms such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, or Microstation.
• Project management experience with local agency right of way engineering and land survey projects.
• Innovative and outside of the box thinking to help solve time and cost sensitive problems.
• Capable of enhancing protocol and procedures for CAD mapping, survey calculations, and field data collection.
• Able to comprehend engineering plans for transportation projects, particularly in the context of the impact of proposed improvements on Right of Way needs.
• Review of deeds, legal descriptions and plat maps for Right of Way acquisition interests; identification of errors and inconsistencies with project design, and coordination with survey staff for resolution of title encumbrance and ownership issues.
• Coordination with staff to organize records research efforts with various counties.
• Coordination with staff to organize field surveying efforts for both topographic and boundary control surveys.
• Familiarity with current GPS, Total Station, UAV and Laser Scanning systems.
• Preparation of survey related calculations and adjustments using standard principles and practices.
• Retracement of recorded property and right of way boundaries; familiarity with preparation of legal descriptions, plat maps, records of surveys, parcel and tract maps, lot line adjustments; mapping deliverables for local transportation agency and Caltrans projects.
• Familiarity with survey data collection and survey data processing systems.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Geography, Environmental Science or Computer Science.
• Experience with CAD Mapping software, such as Autodesk Civil 3D and MicroStation.
• Experience with CAD drafting for Engineering Drawings, Right of Way and Land Survey drawings.
• Drafting experience in AutoCAD for civil, right-of-way or land survey drawings.
• Experience with ArcGIS to create and maintain geospatial data.
• Experience reading and interpreting any of the following source materials: civil engineering drawings, land descriptions, survey drawings, or other mapping materials.
• Experience using Microsoft 360 applications and SharePoint.
• Experience coordinating and implementing work process improvements.
• Professional Land Surveyor licensed in the State of California, desirable
• Professional Engineer licensed in the State of California, desirable
