TITLE: Job Coach
CLASSIFICATION: Teacher Assistant, Approximately 184 days during the school year
LOCATION:Community Connections/Transition Campus
EFFECTIVE DATE: September 1, 2022
REPORTS TO:Department Supervisor
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the supervisor.
Position Summary:
Community-based “Job Coaches” have a significant role in facilitating the process of transitioning students from school to adult life. With this training and support they are able to become successful productive citizens in our community.
Job Qualifications:
1.Minimum of two years relevant work experience in vocational program.
2.Be able to work effectively with all ability levels of students, especially low functioning
special education students.
3.Knowledge of or willingness to learn how to do a task analysis.
4.Desire and ability to work in the community closely with employers.
5.Ability to work in a consistent and individualized manner with students.
6.Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds
7.Ability to work in various job locations performing tasks as needed
8.Willingness to work in areas of self help.
9.Understand and follow policy on confidentiality.
10.Interact appropriately with the public.
11.Understand and implement emergency medical procedures as needed.
12.Willingness to acquire and develop knowledge of computer technology.
13.Daily attendance required for consistency with students.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Duties to include:
1.Developing a task analysis at the assigned work experience site.
2.Daily data collection and evaluation.
3.Able to use behavioral techniques to teach skills.
4.Using community-referenced nonaversive behavior management techniques to teach
and/or promote maximum skill level.
5.Communicating with teachers and other professionals working toward the same
valued outcomes.
6.Daily attendance is required.
Additional Site Responsibilities:
1.Complementing, supplementing, and reinforcing the students vocational skills.
2.Work individually teaching safety rules at the job site.
3.Be flexible and adaptable.
4.Attend and participate in work site orientation meetings.
5.Attend and participate at evaluation feedback meetings.
6.Report and document any concerns, questions, or conflicts regarding any student.
7.All other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
