Primary Purpose of the position:
The North Carolina Aquariums at Roanoke Island is seeking a dynamic, efficient, and enthusiastic individual to join our team as IT Field Support Technician. The primary purpose of this position is to respond to and provide professional level technical support for software system maintenance, PCI compliance issues, hardware installations, troubleshooting, enhancements, planning, and user-requested changes for the North Carolina Aquariums.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as part of a 4 person IT department that will be responsible for specifying, networking, and maintaining computer interactive exhibits and multimedia throughout the Aquarium in conjunction with the Exhibits team.
• Responsible for assessing IT integration needs, specifying hardware and software, training users, and assisting in problem resolution.
• Responsible for providing technical support to members located throughout the Roanoke Island Aquarium, manages office in a professional manner, installs and troubleshoots computers, troubleshoots POS systems, loads software, and supports end user problems associated with hardware/software.
• Assist in developing and installing new systems in a variety of locations and will render assistance in all aspects of personal computers, printers, and operating systems.
• Participates as a project team member for business unit systems that may be multifaceted.
• Manages timelines and resources and assists with implementation efforts to completion. Assists in making referrals of appropriate services and decision-making teams to customer based on the understanding of customer needs including seasonal and on-going Aquarium entertainment attractions and venues.
• Required to work weekend and holiday on-call rotations as well as backup IT staff at other aquarium locations as needed.
• Responsible for keeping accurate and up to date configuration documentation, diagrams, and inventory of all information technology components for the facility.
• Conduct Security Risk Assessments on new and existing technologies at the Aquarium.
• Must be well organized, and able to stay on task despite frequent interruptions.
• Responsible for coordinating activities with other departments and external customers providing input into strategic management processes.
• Ability to work independently, handle competing demands, and follow directions as well as lead.
• Ability to methodically use troubleshooting strategies is a must.
• Must be able to clearly communicate and possess excellent problem-solving skills.

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet ALL the following requirements listed below:

Qualified candidates must have:

• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting (Win10 OS) desktops/laptops, printers (stand-alone and networked) and tablets using a variety of technological tools and techniques.
• Demonstrated experience with use and installation of O365 software suite and commonly used web browsers (Edge, FireFox, Chrome).
• Working knowledge and understanding of PC technology.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory – ability to setup devices, establish user profiles, and map drives.
• Working knowledge of endpoint and network security best practices.
• Experience troubleshooting network connectivity issues on networks that use a variety of connectivity methods.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.

• Ability to prioritize workflow and organize diverse material, handle multiple, competing and changing priorities, identify and understand reoccurring problems and recommend solutions.
• Ability to integrate knowledge and skills from a range of technologies to address work assignments and problems of moderate to high complexity.
• Ability to independently resolve problems through advanced system analysis and troubleshooting procedures.
• Ability to effectively communicate solutions to technicians, analyst, other specialists, and other affected personnel to aid their future solving ability.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution plus one year of experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role;

OR

Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role;

OR

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in the field of technology related to the position’s role;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience.
