We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our team. The Project Accountant will work closely with the US Accounting team, Project Managers and Principals to manage the project billing process, monitor the progress of the project, investigate variances, apply expenses and ensure that project billings are issued to customers and payments are collected in accordance with established accounting standards and company policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate with Project Managers (PM) and Principals-in-Charge (PIC), regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services-related to billing
- Research any unbilled issues to optimize the billing possibilities for the billing period and ensure the AP coding to direct/reimbursable agrees with the contract
- Analyze and prepare sub-Consultant payments based on PWP for the Accounting Directors approval
- Analyze the Profit and Loss accounts monthly and prepare balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor.
- Set up new projects and make transfers of employee billable hours and/or expenses.
- Prepare final invoice package containing draft and final invoices for all billable projects
- Participate in project review meetings with management to review project performance and ensure revenue for project is inline with percent of completion.
Required Skills
- Have successfully completed related post-secondary education equivalent to a college diploma in Accounting
- Possess knowledge of accounting principles and guidelines
Required Experience
- 5-7 years of general accounting experience in architectural/engineering consulting
- Experience in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and accounting systems software
- Experience with Deltek is an asset
