In our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, we maintain a fast pace to meet the needs of those in the most acute phases of cardiac disease. Common problems seen in our unit include post open heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure/cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction. Our unit also provides immediate specialized care to other severe and critically ill patients, including respiratory and cardiac failure, sepsis, renal failure, induced hypothermia, and continuous renal replacement therapy. Our Nurses demonstrate highly advanced skills in patient assessment/intervention, teamwork, and crisis management. We orient new nurses to our unit by providing an 8-12 week orientation with a dedicated preceptor team complemented by a program of critical care courses and a nurse residency program for new graduates. Take the next step of your Nursing journey and join our amazing CVICU where our Nurses always deliver professional and compassionate care.
