Overview
The Center for Pediatric Trauma Research (CPTR) and the Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP) located in Abigail Wexner Research Institute of Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, are seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist to work on NIH and other state/federal funded research studies that focus on patient-centered outcome and clinical trials. The Post-Doctoral Research Scientist will work under the supervision of Dr. Henry Xiang, the principal investigator at the Abigail Wexner Research Institute and Professor of Medicine at the Ohio State University College of Medicine.
Being a team member, the Post-Doctoral Research Scientists will work closely with other research staff on Dr. xiang’s team; physicians, nurses, and clinical staffs at Nationwide Children’s Hospital; and professors and scientists at the main campus of the Ohio State University. Such a research environment provides an intellectual opportunity for the Post-Doctoral Research Scientists to develop into an independent scientist. The person in this position will focus on enhancing their patient-centered outcomes training and clinical and translational research skills including study design, instrument development and validation, data management and statistical analysis methodology. The person will also participate in scientific writing of conference abstracts, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and grant applications while working towards a goal of becoming an independent researcher.
The Center for Pediatric Trauma Research (CPTR) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital conducts research to support global efforts in achieving the best outcomes for pediatric trauma patients. Using a multidisciplinary approach, CPTR researchers lead innovative projects to assess pre-hospital emergency medical service, acute medical and surgical management, rehabilitation, and family and community services that impact the short and long-term outcomes of injured patients.
CPTR serves as a leader and a partner to translate cutting edge research findings to help patients, families, policy makers, and clinicians make informed decisions. CIRP is one of nine CDC-funded Injury Control Research Centers in the U.S. and is the only center to focus primarily on the prevention of injury among children and adolescents. Its faculty members are active in injury research and prevention on local and global levels. Columbus, the state capital, is a vibrant, growing community located in Central Ohio. As the fifteenth largest city in the U.S., it boasts a blend of metropolitan attractions and nearby suburban and rural comfort. There are numerous opportunities to enjoy the arts, recreational activities, and cultural and sporting events, and to continue educational endeavors.
