The Role

The Embedded Systems engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining thermal control systems for all Advanced Thermal Solutions (ATS) products within Modine Manufacturing. This position will work closely with other engineers and managers to develop ATS systems to ensure that all products are held to standards set by both Modine and its customers across the globe.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
:

• Design, validate, and maintain firmware for Modine Advanced Thermal Solutions (ATS) products.

• Participate in all phases of projects following and utilizing APQP from concept to production.

• Continually enhance skills and knowledge through on-the-job training and external seminars.

• Incumbent is expected to improve Modine products and processes by applying existing and learned knowledge while staying informed of new developments in the field of ATS controls.

• Implement new components and technologies in a way that is ethical and justifiable.

• Ensure quality product through participation in both internal and customer design meetings regarding product design, function, durability, and manufacturability.

• Communicate potential issues, existing issues, and overall design feedback with supervisor, section manager, program manager, manufacturing engineers, and other thermal system engineers.

• Occasionally travel to provide customer support with field troubleshooting and modification of existing product. Occasionally travel to assist with product launch at Modine production facilities and suppliers.

• Complete projects within allocated budgets while maintaining high quality and performance standards.

• Assist Modine Application Engineers with product design, sample builds, and troubleshooting.

• Develop and maintain Modine engineering, plant, service, and sales tools.

• Manage suppliers of electromechanical components including validation of new or changed components supplied to Modine. Components include controllers, wire harnesses, fans, and others.

• Develop and maintain internal engineering design specifications for electromechanical components and systems.

• Maintain and enforce internal safety standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
:

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field.
• Must be able to demonstrate some level of programming proficiency. Experience with embedded C and Python preferred.
• Must be proficient in problem-solving, root cause analysis and project management.
• Must be results-oriented with excellent analytical, planning, organization and execution skills.
• Good skills in the following competencies: Creativity, Planning & Organizing, Team Player, Judgment/Decision-Making, Critical Thinking, Diagnostic Troubleshooting, Communication, and Follow-Up.
• Knowledge of the Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol and SAE J1939 specifications preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, such as NEC, UL, IEC and CE, is beneficial.
• Experience with electrical lab equipment is preferred.
• Must have or be able to obtain a passport for travel to Canada.
