Job/Internship Description
Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (District) is seeking a qualified intern that will assist in providing survey services for the District on capital and operations & maintenance (O&M) projects in the planning, design, and construction phases. The intern will achieve proficiency in construction survey techniques in the field. This understanding will coincide with its requisite operational aptitude of current survey technology. Furthermore, the intern will gain an appreciation for the means and methods in which engineering design and construction data are acquired, as well as the concomitant limitations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will work with the survey crews on a variety of projects and will utilize geodetic and cadastral methods to provide/collect data to/from project stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Applicant should be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or land surveying, or an associate degree in civil engineering technology or related field. The successful candidate must be able to lift and/or move up to 45 lbs. in addition to having the ability to walk over uneven terrain and up & down stairs while wearing a hard hat, safety glasses, and safety shoes. A valid driver’s license and a good driving record at time of application, during the selection process, and throughout the internship is required.
Supplemental Information:
This 12-week summer internship is full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M.
