Job Summary: Under the direction of the Plumbing Supervisor, the Plumber is responsible for the Maintenance, repair and testing of plumbing and fire sprinkler systems. Provide emergency response for these systems.

Management of plumbing and fire sprinkler inventory.

Job Responsibilities:

• Plumbing maintenance & Repair: Inventory, test, maintain and repair plumbing systems. Inventory, maintain, monitor, and test fire sprinkler systems. Provide emergency response for said systems.
• Plumbing remodeling: Install plumbing material, equipment, and fixtures related to plumbing remodeling projects.
• Contractor Accommodations: Accommodate plumbing and fire protection contractors as needed. Help with mobilization, system control, and monitor progress.
• Cross Connection Device testing: Complete mandatory annual testing of backflow preventers. Register test results with the Dept of Safety & Professional Services.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current resident of the state of Wisconsin.
• Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license required at time of application and maintained during incumbency.
• Completion of a WI State recognized apprenticeship program.
• Five (5) years of experience as a Journeyman Plumbing experience in maintenance and repair of commercial plumbing systems.
• Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Ability to push and pull up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Available to work regular and/or frequent on-call schedule.
• Applicants must successfully undergo a criminal history background check to establish security clearance for MC Facilities and maintain this clearance throughout employment.

License/Certification required:

• Journeyman or Master Plumber license

• Cross Connection Device Tester Certification

Additional information:

• Applicants must be able to work in all Milwaukee County facilities including secured detention/high-security facilities and work in areas with sensitive information and assets. Required that applicants successfully undergo a criminal history background check to maintain security clearance for Milwaukee County facilities.

The non-competitive examination will consist of a review of candidate materials, education and related experience.
