Overview: The Development Officer for Corporate Giving reports directly to the Chief Development Officer and is responsible for the direction, management and expansion of the Museum’s Corporate sponsorship program. In addition to leading the identification and solicitation of Corporate prospects, the Development Officer for Corporate Giving will be responsible for securing and stewarding the fulfillment of corporate sponsorships, as well as special projects as assigned.

The Development Officer for Corporate Giving will work collaboratively with the Institutional Giving team, the Membership team and the Individual Giving team to support the overall strategy guiding the Museum’s solicitation of Corporate Foundations and annual giving initiatives via the Business Circle (membership). The incumbent will also lead the Corporate engagement strategy and fundraising for the Museum’s annual Gala and provide structure and leadership for a new Professional Advisory Council or Corporate Task Force to advance the Museum’s Strategic Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the Museum’s Corporate sponsorship program, providing strategic recommendations for significant growth, and advance various corporate fundraising goals as assigned.
• In collaboration with the Membership team, refine best practices for identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of Business Circle (corporate) members and their respective constituents, serving as a front-line ambassador to promote all Business Circle member benefits
• Uphold and create new relationships in the business community to advance the Museum’s sponsorship program and grow funding for special projects, exhibitions and educational programs from corporate partners and Museum Business Circle members. This will include providing oversight and management of contract negotiation and execution (proposals and agreements) in collaboration with the Museum’s Marketing and Communications team and supporting the stewardship of corporate supporters.
• Work with the Director of Membership and the Museum’s sponsorship team to best steward Business Circle Members and sponsorship partners. Coordinate organization and promotion of event-related Business Circle member benefits such as exhibition previews, receptions, private viewings or corporate studio activities, and other opportunities.
• Work closely with the Museum’s Volunteer Coordinator to promote employee participation from our corporate supporters, and strengthen the corporate benefit model that serves our corporate partners through employee volunteerism.
• Attend and assist at museum events to support activities listed above.
• Collaborate with the Museum’s Events Department to build and uphold relationships with companies using Museum facilities for company events. Coordinate with fellow members of the Development team and cross-departmentally as necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Five years of sales, marketing and/or customer service experience (non-profit fundraising and/or sponsorship experience preferred)
• Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and weekends in preparation for and during the special events identified.
• Excellent organization, and personal and written communications.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet programs and general familiarity with database programs.
• High level of confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail, as well as impeccable professional practice.
• Interest in MAM’s mission and strategic direction, and ability to motivate and interact effectively with colleagues.
• Preferred Temperament and Abilities:
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: Raiser’s Edge, Basecamp and Microsoft Suite
• Excellent interpersonal skills; systematic, meticulous, patient, self-starter who works well in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
• Manages time efficiently; self-motivated; analyzes and solves problems independently and, as necessary, collaboratively.
• Ability to be flexible and embrace changes within this position due to departmental priorities.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of people to achieve the goals of the Museum.

Physical Demands:

• Remain in a stationary position 60% of the time.
• Lift packages up to 25 lbs. on occasion.
• Move about the museum and offices.
• Operate computer and other office productivity machinery.
• Communicate and converse with others.
