The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger system, including daily balancing and reporting. The Staff Accountant handles timely and accurate preparation and distribution of monthly financial information, including financial statements and analysis. This position provides support to credit union co-workers as a knowledge expert in this area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares and distributes in a timely fashion financial and operational reports and the preparation of all regulatory reporting
• Maintains accuracy and integrity of general ledger system, including mapping from core system to general ledger, daily balancing, and balancing reports
• Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts. Researching all reconciling items and adjusts such items as considered necessary
• Assists in maintaining the budgeting and reporting system, including loading general ledger and core system detail, balancing, reporting, and report preparation and distribution
• Creates ad hoc reporting and analysis to support business intelligence needs of the organization
• Communicates with managers during month-end to ensure accurate and timely month-end results
• Provides assistance to co-workers by sharing knowledge and resources
• Updates and maintains product and department/branch profitability reporting
• Assist in preparation of reports for external exams and audits.
• Maintain the integrity of our monthly financial statements
• Other duties may be assigned

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting strongly preferred (actively pursuing completion will be considered) and one to three years of accounting or financial institution experience. Financial institution experience is desirable but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.50 – $27.50 per hour
