Measurabl Looking for Senior Technical Accountant at San Diego, CA Full Time

The Senior Technical Accountant is a newly created role to assist the Financial Reporting Manager and is primarily responsible for revenue recognition on a monthly basis, external reporting on an annual basis and ad-hoc technical accounting projects including technical memos. We are a technology company and seek opportunities to leverage technology and innovation to solve for the core operational functions of the business. Additionally, attention to detail, experience in streamlining processes, a multitude of systems and being able to think outside the box will allow you to be successful in this role.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
The essential functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Core Accounting:

• Ownership of software revenue recognition process as well as preparation of other technical accounting areas including consolidation, lease accounting, business combinations, etc.
• Preparation of monthly financial statements including recording revenue journal entries required under GAAP and performing fluctuation analysis on related statements
• Debt compliance package preparation

Annual Reporting:

• Gathering of documentation for external auditors during the annual audit
• Preparation of financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, equity statement, cash flow statement and related footnote disclosures
• Review of new accounting guidance for applicability, drafting footnotes as required
• Advise management of any gaps in current reporting through the preparation of the disclosure checklist

Ad-hoc Technical Projects:

• Implementation of ASC 842 – Leases
• Assistance in future system implementations and process automation
• Ad-hoc projects requested by the CFO or COO to support the business

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to work and communicate effectively with others in a diverse, multiethnic and multicultural work environment
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, decentralized environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Proficiency in billing/contact management systems (we currently use Zuora) and Microsoft Excel

Education & Experience:

• 4+ years of experience working in public accounting or a mix of public and private accounting
• CPA license is required
• Experience in the technology or software industry
• Experience collaborating with teams (inter and intra departmental)
• Familiarity with Xero, Zuora, Hubspot, Certa, or Avalara a plus
