Mall of America looking for RAM Sergeant at Bloomington, MN  Full Time

PURPOSE:

To ensure safety and security for tenants, guests, and employees of Mall of America and supervise the activities of the Behavior Detection Officers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Supervise Behavior Detection Officers to include motivating, leading, scheduling, and provide counseling and guidance when necessary up to and including issuing verbal warnings.
• Supervise the K9 unit as needed.
• Conduct training sessions at roll calls to Behavior Detection Officers, new recruitment classes and other Mall of America departments on security policies, procedures, and threat awareness.
• Enforce MOA rules and policies, as well as state and local statutes.
• Ability to be flexible in working hours. May include weekends and holidays.
• Ensure Officers’ reports are completed in a timely manner.
• Perform duties as a Behavior Detection Officer identifying suspicious behavior, objects and vehicles and conduct security interviews.
• Conduct testing on protocols and procedures (red teams) for Behavior Detection Officers.
• Always provide outstanding internal and external guest service.
• Maintain accurate records relating to Explosive Trace Detection machines.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

• Provide support and assistance to subordinates, coworkers, and other departments.
• Act in accordance with the Emergency Operations Plan.
• Provide administrative support at the discretion of management.

• Research new opportunities for training and improvement of the Special Operations Department.
• Act as a Field Training Officer (FTO) for new officers, as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge and experience with threat assessment.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong time management, organizational and decision-making skills.

• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies and private sector companies.
• Ability to multitask and lead by example.
• Working knowledge of state and federal criminal justice statutes and law enforcement procedures preferred.
• Experience in training, developing, and motivating team members.
• Flexibility in working hours may be required to work some weekends and holidays.
• High School diploma or equivalent required, post-secondary education preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
