Why be a Steward?

A steward is an essential role at Macrina Bakery. The steward team upholds our commitment to cleanliness and food safety, ensuring that our product is safe to both make and eat.

**Ability to speak English is not required!**

• $17/hr, starting wage.*
• must be able to work Friday-Sunday night shifts.
• Can be full or part time.
• Weekends and holidays required

*First raise opportunity at 3 months, then every 6 months.

What does a Steward do?

• Sweep, mop and scrape caked flour/dirt off production floors.
• Run the dish machine.
• Wash large production tools (e.g., mixing bowls, trays, speed racks)
• Deep clean bathrooms and breakrooms.
• Deep clean ovens, walk-ins, and other production equipment.
• Restock supplies (e.g., hairnets, paper towels, soap, bags/boxes).
• Maintain a high level of food safety around the bakery.

What does a Steward need?

• Ability to work weekends and holidays. (No PTO approved in Nov/Dec.)
• Ability to stand for a full 8-hour shift.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. as well as reach, bend, and stoop.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at 10ft heights.
• Ability to get a Washington State Food Worker Card.
• Ability to remove all visible piercings (for food safety).
