Actnano, Inc. is a dynamic materials startup in Cambridge, MA. With a strong global technical team, we develop and manufacture coatings that protect printed circuit boards in electronics, allowing them to function in water-laden environments. About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our talented and diverse technical team. The candidate will get to work with industry leading automotive and consumer electronic companies on innovative waterproofing solutions for printed circuit boards. This role will work directly with end users (primarily OEMs), developing customized application solutions, based on existing and/or project specific testing.
Qualifications & Responsibilities
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and Materials Science. Technical project management experience is preferred. Previous industry experience or work with PCBA design and manufacturing strongly desired. Application of coatings and manufacturing processes is a plus but not required. The candidate must be able after 3 months to:
1) Work autonomously on developing novel application techniques for current and new coating formulations. Collaborate with the global actnano team members, both the technical and commercial teams, to implement the technologies.
2) Work closely with our global sales team and take ownership of initiatives to ensure the on-time completion of customer activities, including technical calls with customers, coating customer samples, and providing technical support.
3) Contribute to overall project strategy and execute on multiple application initiatives in parallel, ranging from creation and execution of specific testing, as well as manufacturing implementation.
4) Develop customer-focused solutions and effectively plan for and execute commercialization of coatings and application techniques. This role will require managing customer samples and translating the lab-based coating approaches to our global field-deployed technical team.
5) Background or experience in the following areas would be helpful: PCB components and failure modes, layout considerations, PCBA manufacturing signal integrity for high frequency applications. Serve as a subject matter expert on PCBAs and mentor colleagues on technical issues and advances.
6) Translate lab-based coating formulations and application techniques to a manufacturing environment through scaling up coating technology and factory implementation, as well as provide feedback internally towards next generation coating formulations.
7) Expand actnano’s intellectual property portfolio by innovating on current or new coating technology, application methodologies and novel test methods.
8) The candidate must communicate technical advances and project strategy internally across a global team comprising technical team members and sales. They must also be able to engage customers on the details of our products.
9) Domestic and international travel is required (20-40%), for such activities as implementing our technology with customers and enabling scale-up for mass production.
10) The candidate must be legally allowed to work in the US. This role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area (near to Palo Alto based customers)
