Leggett & Platt, Inc., is searching for an Accounting Manager within our segment reporting department to help support our business. You will be responsible for coordinating financial reports and analyzing results to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP). What will you be doing as an Accounting Manager?
- Day-to-day contact with corporate and segment accounting staff, operating managers, and other corporate departments
- Supervise professional accounting staff, provide feedback, assess performance, and provide guidance and assistance as needed
- Manage the consolidated month end close process, ensuring that all deadlines are met
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in accordance with US GAAP and company policies
- Review transactions and reconciliations for accuracy
- Work cross-functionally with other groups to navigate unique accounting situations and recommend practical solutions
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, ensure all internal controls are consistently implemented and followed
- Assist with special projects as needed
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Five years of accounting experience
- Good interpersonal skills
- Solid understanding of accounting and strong ability to communicate, both written and verbally
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Ability to work in a team-based environment, whether remotely or in the office
- Excellent problem-solving skills
Things we consider a plus:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, MBA or CMA/CPA
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Previous supervisory experience
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication capabilities
- Strong computer skills with demonstrated strength in Excel
