About being a Engineer with Our Surface Water Team

KPG Psomas seeks a mid to senior-level Engineer with a focus on surface water management to join our team in Seattle or Tacoma. Our PNW engineering team works almost exclusively with local municipalities on public works projects. Our ideal candidate will have knowledge of WA Municipal NPDES permit requirements, and be able to prepare surface water engineering reports, drawings, calculations, specifications, and other contract and design deliverables

Responsibility Highlights for our Surface Water Engineer

• Provide modeling, analysis, and documentation of project compliance in accordance with local jurisdictions and governing Stormwater Manual requirements.
• Provide mentorship and workload oversight for surface water design engineers.
• Serve as surface water design lead on municipal integrated design projects.
• Serve as project manager for surface water specific projects.
• Assist with the production of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates.

Minimum Qualifications to be a Surface Water Engineer

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
• P.E. licensed in state of Washington
• Thorough knowledge of Ecology’s Western and Eastern Stormwater Management Manuals as well as local agency adopted surface water manuals and addendums
• Expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling in XPStorm, EPA-SWMM, HEC-RAS, and other equivalent software
• AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MGSFlood and/or WWHM proficiency
• Experience performing expedited review of surface water documents for site development projects for clients’ required building permits and providing creative and efficient design solutions applicable to city/county/state drainage codes and client standards.

Preferred Qualifications for our Surface Water Engineer

• Experience mentoring junior staff
• Understanding of Ecology Water Quality Combined Funding Grant Program
• Experience performing QA/QC of work by others to ensure completeness (technical and constructability review) and accuracy of department deliverables
