The Job

KOM Consulting is seeking a Tax Manager to expand our multi-state state tax practice working with clients and our channel partners. A flexible, full-time, or part-time work schedule is available. Remote work location acceptable for candidates who meet all technical requirements. Applicants need a broad-based exposure to state income tax, sales/use tax, and Washington state excise tax matters, including tax compliance.

Required Technical Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• MST, CPA, or JD/LL.M.
• Minimum of seven years of full-time SALT experience from a national accounting firm or an in-house company tax department
• Broad-based experience in multi-state income, sales/use, Washington state and local excise taxes
• Excellent research and analytical skills
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel

Preferred Technical Skills

• Specific experience in multi-state income and sales tax nexus, apportionment and sourcing, state income and sales tax compliance, voluntary disclosures, tax audits, drafting ruling requests and appeals, sales/use and excise tax refund claims
• Experience with Vertex, other sales tax and database software is a plus

Business Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and writing skills
• 2+ years in a leadership role
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects in different tax areas
• Effectively manage client relationships and communicate with state/local tax authorities
• ‘Get it done’ attitude
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently
• Willing to take on new challenges
• Entrepreneurial and self-motivated

Pay: $75,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
