Responsible for developing and delivering a defined learning program and curriculum for the education of children at the Kohl’s Child Development Centers (CDC). Responsible for an assigned number of children enrolled in a learning program – executes classroom duties including creating lesson plans, care giving and compliance with set standards. Also, provides training and mentoring to new associates.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
FOLLOW KOHL’S CENTER POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AND STATE LICENSING AND REGULATIONS
Manages all the children in a given class, from ensuring safety, care, and nurturance of children at all times
Conduct informal and formal assessments of children as needed or required
Provides insights, feedback and recommendations on ways to improve procedural changes and improvements in the learning program and curriculum
Ensures completion of all classroom paperwork, licensing forms are up to date and meeting all requirements and policies
Ensures appropriate classroom learning environment that follows center philosophy and licensing rules/regulations
DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY OF CURRICULUM
Develops and delivers a defined learning program and curriculum in accordance with state licensing rules and regulations, company defined educational standards and state Model of Early Learning Standards
Mentors and assists new staff (primary or support) in best practices, policies/procedures, customer service and problem solving as needed
May develop and present in-service learning and growth programs for staff and parents
MAINTAIN NECESSARY CERTIFICATION TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES
Attend all staff meetings and recommended required trainings
Meet yearly continuing education requirements
Ensures necessary documentation around First Aid and Infant/Child CPR with AED training is met on a bi-annual basis
PROVIDE QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE TO OUR CUSTOMERS AT EACH INTERACTION
Treat all of the children with dignity and respect
Maintain confidentiality of the children and parents
Work well with fellow associates, support teachers and supervisors to ensure the needs of the children are met
Write notes on the Daily Connect App relaying information to the parents regarding their child’s day – charting all diaper changes, feedings and naps and any other important information
Greet parents and children throughout the center
ADDENDUM
OVERSEE ALL OPENING AND CLOSING PROCEDURESÂ
Open the building which includes checking voicemails, adjusting schedules  and coordinating associate coverage
Oversee drop off and pick up process – ensure Wellness screenings are running smoothly, accompany children to and from classrooms while answer any questions from parentsÂ
Close the building which includes keeping track of children exiting and overseeing dismissing teachers for the day as classrooms get into ratio
Follow any and all necessary policies in the event of an emergency
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
Meet all Early Childhood Teacher requirements (ECI and ECII)
Fundamentals of Infant/Toddler Development Certified (For Infant/Toddler Primary position)
Multiple years of experience in Early Childhood Education (Min. requirement of 80 full days working experience in a licensed childcare facility)
Demonstrates leadership behaviors, takes initiative
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others
Understand and implement developmentally appropriate practices
If hired, Drug Screen, Health Exam and TB test required
PREFERRED
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Superior organizational and computer skills
Curriculum development, lesson planning, and training experienceÂ
Customer service experience
First Aid and Infant/Child CPR with AED training
Shaken Baby Syndrome Certified
Child Abuse/Neglect Certified
Regular attendance is key to performing the job
