This position requires a Bachelors Degree (BA) in conjunction with eight (8) years experience in aviation management. A minimum of eight years related experience can substitute for a degree. This position requires a minimum of eight (8) years experience in maintaining complex, large category, multi-engine, turbine-powered, fixed wind aircraft to include complex airframe modifications.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports directly to the Site Manager. The Fleet Manager is directly responsible for all maintenance mechanics and aircraft for the SEMA Program in El Paso or Korea. This position indirectly manages over 50 employees through subordinate Production Managers and Leads at all locations.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fleet Manager is accountable for planning, managing and directing all service, repair and overhaul of the aircraft fleet inventory for the site. The Fleet Manager must be knowledgeable in FAA regulations and all parts of the contract on aircraft readiness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Meets and manages all constraints of time and cost to maintain the technical performance of the fleet for the site.
2. Assures quality of work accomplished by the maintenance team meets with government and Corporate standards.
3. Adherence to labor, parts and components contract budgets.
4. Establishes contract aircraft maintenance milestones and monitors adherence to the schedule and contract.
5. Coordinates with the US Army on matters of aircraft assignments, movements, and recovery of aircraft away from the Beddown Base site.
6. Provides overall direction, coordination, and evaluation for maintenance employees in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws individually or through subordinate supervisors.
7. In partnership with the Site Manager, assists managerial responsibilities which include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, terminations and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems for all maintenance staff.
8. Develops and maintains reports that accurately measure aircraft performance, identifies potential problems, takes corrective actions and ensures the meeting of company’s contract commitments.
9. Develops and maintains a list of critical parts, components and engines needed to keep the aircraft on time and on schedule required in the contract.
10. Assure that timely, accurate records are maintained on all maintenance, repairs and overhauls completed on each aircraft, at all locations.
11. Performs additional assignments as required.
LANGUAGE ABILITY:
This position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations and the ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. This position must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
MATH ABILITY:
This position requires the ability to apply concepts of basic math and algebra, fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
This position requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. This position must interpret a variety of instructions furnished written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Software: MISA, Access, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Internet software, MS Project Management, E-mail.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
A&P Mechanics license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level is usually moderate and this position is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit and talk or hear, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. This position requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
